Grow Up

July 01, 2015

When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I grew up, I did away with childish things.  1 Corinthians 13:11

There was the cutest video on Facebook of a little girl opening a HUGE birthday present on her porch a little while back.  Inside was her father who had returned from military service abroad.  She was SO excited when she realized what (or who) was in that big box. Even though she was so young, she realized what a precious gift he was--she didn't ask him what he brought her.  ;)

Often when you're a young child, you just want your parents to provide everything you need and everything you want.  When you grow more mature, you begin to appreciate your parents for themselves.  If this doesn't happen, it's a sign of immaturity and/or selfishness.  So it should be in our relationship with God.  We should grow to love Him for Himself, not only for what He does for us and gives us.
