Nakedness Exposed
March 05, 2017
"Woe to him who gives drink to his neighbors, pouring it from the wineskin till they are drunk, so that he can gaze on their naked bodies! You will be filled with shame instead of glory. Now it is your turn! Drink and let your nakedness be exposed! The cup from the LORD's right hand is coming around to you, and disgrace will cover your glory." Habakkuk 2:15-16

Heavenly Father, Please guard our hearts, minds and souls from sinning against you and against each other. Please help us to abide in you that we recognize what is wrong and displeasing to you and have your power in us to resist temptation. Please help us to always remember that you see everything, even inside of our hearts and minds. We don't want to give the devil a single inch of victory in our lives. We want to stand firm in your word and hold the line in this fallen country. Please help us to do this with love as our aim, with gentleness, reproving and speaking the truth in love. In Jesus' perfect, sinless, victorious name, Amen.
Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise. Proverbs 20:1
Listen, my son, accept what I say, and the years of your
life will be many. I instruct you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths. When you walk, your steps
will not be hampered; when you run, you will not
stumble. Hold
on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it
is your life. Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evildoers. Avoid it, do not travel on
it; turn from it and go on your way. For they cannot rest until
they do evil; they are robbed of sleep till they make
someone stumble. They eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence. The path of the righteous
is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full
light of day. But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness;
they do not know what makes them stumble. My son, pay attention to
what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your
sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those
who find them and health to one’s whole body. Above all else, guard your
heart, for everything you do flows from it. Keep your mouth free of
perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. Let your eyes look
straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought
to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your
ways. Do not
turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil. Proverbs 4:10-27
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot
out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against you, you only, have
I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment. Behold, I was brought forth
in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me. Behold, you delight
in truth in the inward being, and you teach me wisdom in the
secret heart. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and
gladness; let the bones that you have broken rejoice. Hide your face from
my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart,
O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your
presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me.Restore to me the joy
of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing
spirit. Then I
will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return
to you. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, O God of my salvation, and my tongue
will sing aloud of your righteousness. O Lord, open my lips, and my
mouth will declare your praise. For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would
give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt
offering. The
sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite
heart, O God, you will not despise. Psalm 51:1-17
Finally, then, brothers, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus,
that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, just as
you are doing, that you do so more and more. For you know what instructions we gave you through
the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of
God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own
body in holiness and honor, not in the
passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one transgress and wrong his brother in this
matter, because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we told you
beforehand and solemnly warned you. For
God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness. Therefore whoever disregards this, disregards not
man but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you. 1 Thessalonians
4:1-8
Blessed is the man who walks not
in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way
of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in
the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields
its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not
wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not
so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked
will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the
congregation of the righteous; for the LORD knows the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish. Psalm 1:1-6
The law of the LORD is perfect,
reviving the soul; the testimony
of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of
the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the
LORD are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than
honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is your
servant warned; in keeping them there is great
reward. Who
can discern his errors? Declare me innocent from hidden
faults. Keep
back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not
have dominion over me! Then I shall be
blameless, and innocent of great
transgression. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my
heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and
my redeemer. Psalm 19:7-14
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword,
piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and
discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all
are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Hebrews
4:12-13
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak. Ephesians 6:10-20
Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Galatians 6:1
And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will. 2 Timothy 2:24-26
Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed. That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need. Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:14-32
