Beware lest there be among you a root bearing poisonous and bitter fruit, one who, when he hears the words of this sworn covenant, blesses himself in his heart, saying, ‘I shall be safe, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart.’ This will lead to the sweeping away of moist and dry alike. The LORD will not be willing to forgive him, but rather the anger of the LORD and his jealousy will smoke against that man, and the curses written in this book will settle upon him, and the LORD will blot out his name from under heaven. But if your heart turns away, and you will not hear, but are drawn away to worship other gods and serve them, I declare to you today, that you shall surely perish. For Moses writes about the righteousness that is based on the law, that the person who does the commandments shall live by them. But the righteousness based on faith says, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” (that is, to bring Christ down) “or ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:5-13

Thus says the LORD: “Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ I set watchmen over you, saying, ‘Pay attention to the sound of the trumpet!’ But they said, ‘We will not pay attention.’ Therefore hear, O nations, and know, O congregation, what will happen to them. Hear, O earth; behold, I am bringing disaster upon this people, the fruit of their devices, because they have not paid attention to my words; and as for my law, they have rejected it. Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end. As it is said, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” For who were those who heard and yet rebelled? Was it not all those who left Egypt led by Moses? And with whom was he provoked for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? And to whom did he swear that they would not enter his rest, but to those who were disobedient? So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief. Hebrews 3:12-19

Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us. For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself. Philippians 3:17-21

My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked. Beloved, I am writing you no new commandment, but an old commandment that you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word that you have heard. At the same time, it is a new commandment that I am writing to you, which is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining. Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness. Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling. But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes. 1 John 2:1-11

Please note that contrary to what some teachers say, "walking as He walked" does NOT mean keeping the law as He kept it. We are not under the law, which is a good thing, since we could NEVER keep it. (Gal. 3:2-3, 4:9-11, 5:1) That's why we needed Jesus to do so for us. (Matt. 5:17, Col. 2:14-23, Rom. 8) We "walk as He walked" by walking in LOVE. John explains this as he continues in the passage. Paul also explained it in Gal. 5:13-25 and Rom. 13:8-14. Notice those agree with John--it's NOT walking in love if we are sexually immoral, covetous, selfish, corrupt in our language and actions, etc. We're under the law of liberty, and by it we will be judged as to how we used our freedom. (Jam. 1:25, 2:8, 12, Rom. 6:20-23, 1Cor. 6:9-20, 1Thess. 4:1-8, Col. 3, Eph. 4-5)

We ABIDE in Jesus by obeying His commands as He summarized them into TWO (and you can't do the second without the first, so it's really ONE command - LOVE both God and others, even enemies). (Mark 12:28-34, John 13:34-35, 15:8-11, 12-17, Matt. 5:43-48, Luke 6:27-36, Rom. 12:9-21, 1Pet. 4:7-8) God doesn't WANT legalism or robots. He wants to be worshiped and obeyed in TRUTH and SPIRIT. (John 4:23-24, Rom. 7:4-6, Gal. 5:24-25, Rom. 8:13-23) Walking in a manner pleasing to Him does not mean going back to the Old Covenant of regulations, but it does mean we should think about how our behavior, words, actions, inactions, etc. will reflect on our King. (Rom. 12:1-2) We should always remember that we're representing to the world how a child of God behaves. So what kind of statement does that make if we're doing things that God clearly said that He hates and thus are prohibited in ALL ages? (Acts 15:19-20, Rev. 21:8, 22:15)
