Paths Straight

The righteousness of the blameless makes their paths straight, but the wicked are brought down by their own wickedness. Proverbs 11:5

Heavenly Father,  You know that these days we live in are full of deceit and evil.  Just as your Word warns us, people have become incredibly self-centered, ungrateful, arrogant, greedy and focused way too much on the things of this world instead of on you.  Please help us to stand firm in your Word, with our eyes fixed on you, trusting that everything works out for the best when we rely on you instead of on our own strength and wisdom or that of others.  Please help us not to blend in--complaining, coveting and giving in to fear with the rest--but to be lights shining brightly for others to see your goodness, mercy and grace.  We want people to be drawn to your love through us so that they can receive salvation.  We want Jesus to be pleased with how we served Him when He returns.  All we have and are is at your disposal, for your glory.  In the beautiful name filled with hope and love of our Savior, Jesus, Amen.

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty.  For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,  heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good,  treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,  having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. 2 Timothy 3:1-5
